Dave Skowronski has been working in film production since junior high school, but you don't get paid for it until you graduate college, right? From television stations in Connecticut he ventured west to work for the creators of OnePass, the original large scale post production house in San Francisco, where he soon became senior editor at Steve Michelson Productions. Always staying cutting edge- Dave mastered Ampex, CMX, Sony and Grass Valley edit systems during the early 90's transition from one inch to D2 and finally to Digital Betacam. At the dawn of non-linear, he worked on the very first generation of Media100's and Avid Composers. Mastering Avid, Dave traveled back east to work exclusively on Avid's Film Composer cutting film trailers for Miramax Films. From there, Dave's post production services grew to serving Miramax and The Shooting Gallery on many film marketing campaigns from Scream to Slingblade, as well as Dee Snider's Strangeland. With the market shifting and ever changing budgets, Dave re-invented himself cutting a variety of different projects for clients such as ESPN, Gillette, Adidas, & Verizon. He is currently directing, producing and editing Ron Hazelton's HouseCalls, a nationally syndicated home improvement show. Dave is the master of Final Cut and Avid systems as well as a strong effects builder and creator, super fast, highly creative master of technology to the point of, "just another appendage". FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Home Improvement Show Editor Adds Director’s Hat Dave Skowronski, senior editor for the nationally syndicated home improvement series, Ron Hazelton’s HouseCalls, will also serve as the show’s director. Mr. Skowronski introduced the concept of instantaneous, on-location editing to the program based on a Final Cut Pro platform. “We are now literally rough cutting as we go”, says Ron Hazelton, the show’s host and executive producer. “Directors, of course, have to think editorially. In Dave’s case, he not only imagines how the shots will cut together, he actually does it on the spot. If something doesn’t look just right, we know it immediately and can re-shoot. By combining directing and editing in one person, we save time and money, and get a better quality product.” “There’s only one problem,” Hazelton commented, “people with Dave’s combined talents are rare”. “I think of him as an endangered species; I’ve dubbed him a “directoproditor” (director-producer-editor).” FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION OR COMMENTS CONTACT: Lynn Drasin lynndrasin@ronhazelton.com |
